Quinton de Kock was recognized for his outstanding performance throughout the year. The star wicketkeeper-batsman has been named the South African Cricketer of the Year for 2019-20. He has also been selected as the best Test cricketer of the year.
De Kock won the South African Player of the Year award for the second time as the sixth cricketer. The other five cricketers of the year who have been named the best of the year are Makhaya Antini, Kagiso Rabada, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis.
Earlier, De Cock was named South Africa's Cricketer of the Year in 2016. Although the last season was not conducive for South Africa, De Kock was brilliant in his personal performance. He has scored 537 runs in 4 fifties in Tests, 25 catches and two stumpings. Only Dean Elgar has scored more runs in Tests than De Kock.
De Kock was also brilliant in ODIs. The 26-year-old cricketer took 15 catches with 533 runs at an average of 37.07 and made a stumping.
This time, South Africa's ODI and T20 Cricketer of the Year award went to pacer Lungi Engidi. Another fast bowler is Enrique Nortje.
Laura Olverdott, South Africa's opening batsman, has been named South Africa's ODI Cricketer of the Year and Women's Cricketer of the Year. Sabneem Ismail has been named the Women's T20 Player of the Year. And the best emerging leg spinner is Nankululeko Emlaba.
Due to the corona virus crisis, Cricket South Africa has announced the names of the best cricketers of the year.
