Bayern Munich have already confirmed this season's Bundesliga title. This time the Bavarians also won the German Cup title. Bayern retained the title by beating Leverkusen 4-2.
They also won the German Cup last season. This is their record 20th title. This is Bayern's 13th domestic double victory in the Bundesliga and German Cup. Hans Flick's team also set a new record of being unbeaten in 28 consecutive matches. In addition, Bayern set another record of 18 consecutive wins.
David Alava gave Bayern the lead from a free-kick in the 16th minute of the match at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Serge Nabri doubled the lead in the 24th minute. The German giants finished the first half keeping this gap.
Robert Lewandowski scored the third goal for Bayern in the 59th minute with a long-range shot back from the break. The Polish striker later scored his second goal a minute before the scheduled time. Leva has scored 50 goals in all competitions in Bayern's jersey this season with a pair of goals.
Leverkusen, however, did not fail to return to the match. They made Bender's goal difference 3-1 in the 63rd minute. Kai Haverzt scored another goal from a penalty kick in the fifth minute of added time. But Leverkusen did not benefit from that either.
